How to use Tab Translator

Paste. Shift. Play.

Paste standard six-string ASCII tablature, or load the original example. Shift in semitones, or choose a target tonic and press Move. The original input stays editable and unchanged.

The key override tells the tool your original key; it does not change the notes until you transpose. Reset shift returns to the original pitches.

A few musical details

Key suggestions use note membership in major and natural minor scales. Short passages and relative keys can be ambiguous. Chords are inferred from notes beginning in the same column, including common triads, sevenths, suspended chords, and power chords. Existing chord-only rows above a block are replaced by these suggestions.

Frets stay on the original string by default. Alternate strings preserve exact pitches when possible, but may change fingering. Relocation is blocked for passages with technique marks. This version supports standard tuning, frets 0–24, aligned bar lines, and six-row blocks; alternate tunings and rhythmic notation are not supported.

Clean output. Yours to keep.

Copy tab and Save .txt include plain text with the same alignment as the preview. Root highlighting adds no extra characters. Common technique marks and section headings are preserved; spacing may expand or contract to fit notes and labels.
